We get it! You've already got friends and you've heard some stories about mothers groups before. About catty mums and lots of judgement, comparing babies and cliques. But you've just had a baby (maybe it's your first or maybe it's your third) and you've realised that all your friends are at different stages. They're childless still or their kids are at school. You're at home with a screaming potato and you need to get out of the house! There are plenty of reasons to join a modern mothers group, and we've got 5 great reasons to persuade you to come! 1. Education. Modern mothers groups have a focus on education. Teething. Weaning. Meeting Milestones. Sleep. Babywearing. The list goes on! Even if you aren't a first time mum, things change and what you did first time round is often forgotten. Plus what works with one child often won't work with another! Having experts provide easy refreshers is so useful through the sleep deprived haze, and much easier than googling at 3am!
2. Leaving the house is vital! We don't talk about this with new mothers enough, about how leaving the house every day is vital. It can be so easy to stay trapped underneath a cranky baby, but everyone is happier with a change of scenery! We know it can be super overwhelming to pack up everything you need plus a baby into the car, but the only thing that makes it easier is practice, practice and more practice. Babies love seeing new people and hearing new sounds, and with all the stimulation they might just sleep a little better (though we can't promise it! 3. Friendships. Of course not every friend you are going to meet in mothers group is going to become your life long bestie, but those friend who are just there for a reason (or a season) are just as important in our lives! Your childless friends don't care about vaccination schedules, what flavour pain relief is best or where to get the cutest onesies, but your mothers groups pals? They'll talk about it all day with you! 4. Coffee. Ok, maybe not just coffee. Tea, kombucha, juice. Whatever you need that day! But more importantly, it's a chance to do something just for you. To sit and be present and share a drink (that is brought to right to you!). It's the little pleasures sometimes as a new mum that make all the difference! Have we convinced you to join a Mothers Group yet? Come one, we know you want to! Check out when our next round of our Coorparoo Mothers Group runs here, or give us a call on 07 3061 5050.
